2006-03-02 09:47:00
Picayune Police confiscated 3 illegal gambling machines from local bar.

Picayune Police investigations led to the finding of three gambling machines at a local bar. Police arrived on Thursday to Sidelines Bar located at 2309 E. Canal St. after receiving a complaint from an anonymous caller about illegal gambling activity.

Bryan Carroll, the bar owner, took the police officers to the back room and showed them the gambling machines. Police confiscated the 3 machines and 900 dollars in cash. After getting a search warrant, the police officers returned to the business and found documents that prove purchasing of gambling machines and other illegal gambling documents, in addition to 3,000 dollars in cash.

On Saturday, police received another complaint, now regarding drug sale activity at the bar by customers. The anonymous caller described the suspects, and the police officers arrived to the location to find them escaping in a black Mazda 626. The driver was arrested for driving without valid license and insurance. Police found a white powdery substance in a plastic bag in the car and a hand rolled cigarette believed to be marijuana.
