In a time where lese and less family's sit don to eat or talk to each other and parents rarely knowing what is going on in the life of their teenage child it is nice to see there is still one family in Canyon City that does, even if it is over a poker game.
Some people will tell you that Poker is the root of all evil and that playing it is a sin. But how can something that brings a family closer together be a sin? Here is a family that site down at the dinner table for several hours until someone loses all their money. They play all different types of poker like 5 card draw and 7 card no peek to name just a few, and everyone has a good time talking and laughing as the root beer flows.
In this family playing poker is a tradition passed down from the kids grandfather and they still play at the table where he taught them to play when they were little.
Speaking to the children they tell me it is important to them that when they get older and have families of their own to continue this tradition and they hope one day to be able to teach their own grandkids to play the game like theirs did for them. They say that the memories of playing poker with their family are the ones they will keep forever and that even though they don't always see eye to eye with their parents they know this will always be something they can share together.
